A friend of mine just emailed me one of your articles from a while back. I read that one a few more. Really enjoy your blog. Thanks

This is great advice Simon. I found doing my VAT returns and admin, drained my energy. So outsourcing and delegating all the stuff I didn’t like freed up masses of my energy which enabled me to write more books and freed up lots more TIME to record CDs. It kept me in the zone of what I do best which is to help parents.

I have also found working with you to be inspiring as you are the expert in your field and you make marketing fun and really focused, as this your area of expertise.

I struggled with technology, social media and juggling all the balls of running a business so outsourcing and bringing in experts not only frees up your time and energy and it frees up your stress knowing your business is in safe hands.

I found it a really helpful to imagine that I had been given a magic wand and could create, have and do anything I wanted in my business and to imagine what sorts of people that would be on my “Wish List” or my “Dream Team” to delegate and outsource to.

Really cutting edge marketing was on that Dream List.

In Michael Gerber’s wonderful book “The E- Myth Revisited” his most striking observation is that most small businesses are started by “technicians”, i.e. people who are skilled at something and who enjoy doing that thing. (A technician can be anything from a computer programmer to plumber to a dog groomer to a musician or lawyer.) When these technicians strike out on their own, they tend to continue doing the work they are skilled at, and ignore the overarching aspects of business.

Without clear goals and quantifiable benchmarks, they soon find themselves overworked, understaffed, and eventually broke. Worst of all, they may come to hate the work they do. Rather than owning a business, they own a job, and they find themselves working for managers who are completely clueless about how to run a business- themselves !! So it makes great sense to outsource.

I always knew that Great Content + Great Marketing = Success so I’m thrilled that you are on my “Dream Team” and I can finally relax and know that I am in good hands and can enjoy doing what I do best – inspiring parents !

Great pinny by the way !

Outsourcing and delegating…two very important things to master in my life. For many years, I’ve wanted to be the best at everything. Unfortunately, we only have so many hours in a day to make a difference. Therefore, we have to focus on those things that are important to us.

For me, the first step was to pay someone to cut my grass. Sure, I could do it, but I don’t LOVE it and someone can do it 100x better.

Enjoyed the video. Keep it up!

Thanks for the comment Damond. Totally agree we can’t be great at everything and as the saying goes don’t trip over the pennies whilst you’re heading for the dollars.

Fantastic analogy Simon! Thank you producing this video. As a virtual assistant I’ve been trying to get the word out that business people can’t do it all themselves. I’m going to put the link up to this on my Facebook company page and retweet it so more people can discover your brilliance. Cheers!

Thank you Darla that’s very kind of you and thank you for leaving your comment.
Let me know how it goes.
